COMPUTERS

Computer Basics 101 (5 Weeks) Fee: $40

Does sitting at a computer or laptop scare you? Do you wish you had basic computer skills? This class is for you! You will learn how to open apps (programs), create, store, and print letters, organize photos, access and explore the Internet, and other general topics. Please note: this class will be taught on Windows machines and does not cover Apple topics.

 

 Computer Basics 102 (6 Weeks) Fee: $45

This course is for users that would like to expand their knowledge of a computer, continuing at the basic level. It includes information on computing terms, the Desktop, various devices, operating systems and software, Networking and internet basics, data, security, customizing, printing, and working with folders and files. Note: This class utilizes Windows machines.

 

How to Clean your Computer? (1 Day)  Fee: $15

Is your computer slow and getting slower? Do you know how to clean your computer? The class will discuss how to identify and use computer software to free up disk space on a computer's hard drive. The software will search and analyze the hard drive for files that are no longer of any use, and then removes the unnecessary files. Malicious software, including rogue security software, adware, malware and spyware will be removed. Some of the software are available in both a free and a paid version.

 

Understanding Folders & Files (1 Day)  Fee: $15

If you use a computer, you need to know about folders and files! Learn how to organize the contents of your computer by creating folders and sub-folders. Learn how to rename a folder and the different ways to display your list of folders and files.

 

Computer Jargon (1 Day)  Fee: $15

What is all this computer stuff? In this class, you will receive a general introduction to the basic definitions/concepts of what is computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices.

WINDOWS

Intro to Windows 11 (6 Weeks)   Fee: $45

In this introductory class, students will learn the basics of how to use Windows 11, and Microsoft Edge. Also covered is finding and downloading app and using the Windows email app. Students will learn how to work with files and folders on the computer as well as how to save files on One Drive, a cloud storage app. Students will be shown how to back up files and fix simple problems.

 

Windows 11 - Information, Tips and Tricks (1 Day)  Fee: $15

This class will discuss the Window 11 operating system and provide some tips on how the systems works. Discuss some of the differences between Windows 11 and Windows 10 and Ways to Recover Permanently Deleted Files in Windows

MICROSOFT WORD

Word Processing Basics (1 Day)   Fee: $15

The class will provide a basic overview of Microsoft Word and covers how to create a document, how to use bold, underline, italicize words, open multiple documents, using the Quick Access bar, setting tabs, adjusting spacing, inserting pictures, choosing margins, making columns, using spell check and using templates.

 

Using Tables in Word (1 Day)   Fee: $15

Learn how to create Tables in a Microsoft Word document. Learn how to sort table columns, how to adjust columns, change format and style and align the data.

 

Using Layout Tools in Word (1 Day)   Fee: $15

Learn how to use various tools to affect the layout of your Word document. Learn how to insert and edit headers and footers, including inserting page numbers and date and time. Also covered will be changing margins and tabs, as well as spacing between paragraphs, to give your document the look you want.

 

Using Templates in Word (1 Day)   Fee: $15

Learn to save yourself a lot of time by using templates. A template is a predesigned document you can use to create a new document quickly. Templates often include custom formatting, graphics, objects, sample text and design, so they can save a lot of time and effort when starting a new project.

 

Overview of Word, Excel and Powerpoint (1 Day)   Fee: $15

This class will discuss the basic capabilities of these three Microsoft applications and explain what they can do. Their most commonly used tools and features are discussed. If you want to know what these programs are and what they can do come to this 2 hour class!

MICROSOFT EXCEL

Intro to Microsoft Excel (1 Day)  Fee: $15

This class will provide a basic overview of what Excel is and will cover how to enter and format data and create spreadsheets/worksheets

 

A bit more Microsoft Excel (1 Day)  Fee: $15

Did you take the Intro to Excel class? Want to learn a little bit more and some ways that you can actually use Excel in real life situations? This is the class for you. Learn about functions, designing spreadsheets to help you keep track of lists or even your checkbook!

APPLE / iOS

iPhone Basics (1 Day)  Fee: $15

This class will review basics of the iPhone including some Settings, apps, emails, Safari, etc.  We will also discuss navigating between apps and some personalization.  Please be sure you bring your iPhone with you and that you have your AppleID and Password with you.  Please also note that we will not be covering anything about the iPad.

INTERNET RELATED

Buying and Selling on eBay (2 Weeks)  Fee: $20

Learn how to register and navigate on the eBay website. You will learn how to buy and sell items on eBay, as well as how to verify a seller’s credibility. A valid email address that you can access remotely in the workshop is required.

 

What is the "Cloud"? (1 Day)   Fee: $15

Students will discuss what the Cloud is and how to use Microsoft One Drive and-or Google Drive (and other cloud-based applications), to prepare and store files and documents. (This class discusses the Windows application, not Mac-Apple.) Students should bring their Microsoft user ID and password to class. Apple instructions not provided or used in class, but will be provided in writing if student is interested for home use.

 

Intro to Shutterfly (1 Day)   Fee: $15

Shutterfly is a free app/program that you can use to save photos and create books, cards, keepsakes and gifts in addition to getting prints.  Learn how to get started making a project with your photos.  Please bring photos on your cell phone or a memory stick with photos from a camera to use.  If you don't already have a Shutterfly account, we will create one for you in class.

 

What is Email anyway? (1 Day)   Fee: $15

This class will present information about email and its uses. Learn about the difference between "to", "cc", and "bcc". Learn about attachments and inserts. Ever heard of a "sig file" - we will talk about those too! We will talk about formatting your message (using bold, underline, and italics to enhance your meaning) and tips on how to help your message get across to the recipient. We will even look at different email applications to see the similarities.

CLOUD BASED SOFTWARE

Intro to Microsoft 365 on The Web (1 Week)  Fee: $15

Curious about the free version of Microsoft Office that you can access on the Internet? Come learn about the apps included and about some free sites that will help you learn how to use them!

 

Intro to Google Workspace Tools (1 Week)  Fee: $15

Curious about the free tools that come with a Gmail address? Come learn about the various apps available and about some free sites that will help you learn how to use them!

QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION

Question and Answer Open Session (1 Day)   Fee: $0

Do you have a general question dealing with Microsoft PCs, Windows, Microsoft Software? Are you curious about whether you could answer someone else’s questions as you have learned more? Join some of our instructors in this session – bring your questions and they, or the other participants in the session, will try to answer them!
